Join us!

From last year conference
Welcome to "Seeing together"-conference in Zakosciele April 12 - 14. Seeing Together is the Safety Shelter initiated ministry among visually impaired people in Poland. Visually impaired people are building relations with each other and working together with people without sight problems to find solutions for physical, social and spiritual needs.
Just like Christian Association for the Visually Impaired people in Norway, in Denmark, in Sweden and Torch in England. Last year conference in Zakościele gave us an enthusiastic start.

This year conference has two main topics:
  • In what way can you deal with the challenges of suddenly lose your sight, complete or partly?
  • Why should churches have a special attention to visually impaired as impaired in general?
Two Norwegians, Kristin Lundberg and Arne Tømta, both educated as special educators and well experienced with, education , treatment and rehabilitation of the blind and partially sighted people and well known with Poland take part in the conference beside some Polish speakers.

Kristin Lundberg and Arne Tømte
Kristin and Arne took for more than 10 years part in the team of specialists related to the project "Adopted and equal education of children and youth with sight dysfunction in Poland" - a cooperation project between Christian Foundation Safety Shelter

Arne is one of the most experienced in Norway in rehabilitation of blind and partially sighted. He is working in the rehabilitation centre run by The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted. One of the most modern rehabilitation centre in the world.

Kristin has too been working in the same centre, later with rehabilitation and adopted education for blind and partially sighted people in a Norwegian county. Now she's working in Trondheim city with adopted education programs for adult people.

Piotr Karas
Two well experienced Polish specialists too take part too: Anna Rozborską, from Fundacja Instytut Rozwoju Regionalnego and by dyrektor Anna Tomaszewska, Łódzka Szkoła dla Słabo Widzących i Niewidomych. Anna and Anna help us to get a proper percpective for Poland.
As Christian ministry we too like to set focus on the attention churches have or should have to visually impaired as impaired in general. Pastor Piotr Karas from Lodz gives inputs.
Piotr has own experiences of visually impairment and social engagement. In November last year he got his doctoral degree with "Social activities evangelical churches in Poland" as subject. Besides being Pentecostal pastor, he is also national director for Mission New Hope.
This is an invitation to visually impaired people as well as without sight problems. We like to bring together all who are challenged of our vision (look below) – visually impaired people that are longing for a Christian network and want to contribute and serve others with similar impairment – or people without vision problems that are touched of our call and like to take part in the ministry.
Conference fees – food and lodging – are generally covered by Safety Shelter. Participants cover own transport cost. We can eventually arrange transport from Lodz to Zakosciel.
Conference start afternoon Friday April 12 with dinner 6 pm. Finish Sunday 12.30 with lunch.
